Digital Legacy at the Royal College of Nursing Exhibition
The Royal College of Nursing’s ‘Digital Revolution. Nursing in the Age of Technology’ exhibition is now open for visitors. The exhibition will close on the 2nd March 2027
The exhibition preview took place on the 16th September and included a number of thought provoking talks in the cross section of technology, nursing, societal attitudes and behaviours.
I am delighted to announce that two Digital Legacy Association resources feature as part of the exhibition.
The resources inclusion helps to highlight and examine the role of today’s nurse within the age of technology. It also highlights how far the digital legacy sector has come over since the Digital Legacy Assocaition was launched 10 years ago
The exhibition and artefacts
The exhibition includes both historical and modern artifacts used by the nursing profession and by those receiving care. These range from a Florence Nightingale’s nomination form to the Statistical Society of London in 1858 to historical medical devices and computing hardware.
Emerging technologies such as care robots, artificial intelligence and virtual reality headsets allow attendees to further examine how nursing has changed and conceptualise how it might develop in the future.
Future of Nursing Exhibition – Opening Reception talks
The launch event included four very different talks exploring technology and its impact on care.

- Lies, damn lies and eugenics – Historian and writer Subhadra Das
- Where Do Care Robots Come from (and Why Does It Matter)? – Literary scholar Amelia DeFalco
- The Future of Health in the Rage-Bait Economy – Digital health consultant, author and scholar Rachael Kent
- The Art of the Digital – Artist, Rachel Lee Pearl
The event was chaired by Tim James, Chair of the RCN Digital Nursing Forum.
All of the talks were excellent and differed in both content and delivery.

We would like to thank the RCN for including digital legacy and our resources within this forward thinking and truly wonderful exhibition.
An increasing number of nurses, care professionals and care organisations are supporting patients with their digital lives. As mentioned within the exhibition it can now be seen as an emerging area of Advance Care Planning
The Digital Legacy Association will continue to support palliative care, community and public health nurses who support patients and society with both their digital lives and their digital death.
